Writing a Synthesis Paper

  Develop a Plan-of-Action for literacy instruction to be implemented over the next three years. This plan should be original and relevant to a targeted population. The plan will be submitted to the district superintendent and then seek school board approval. The plan should include research of best practices and an emphasis for the program outlining current student benchmarks and targeted benchmark aspirations. As this plan is persuading the board to approve resources for the new plan, you will need to address the evolving standards/legislation, effective strategies, impact of the program on diverse learners, need for professional development, parental involvement / program support and any other additional critical considerations. Option 2: Every school / district has a literacy program. Based upon the content you acquired in this course, you are asked to access your districts/schools program to evaluate it in terms of the major characteristics outlined. In your evaluation, please share the strengths of the program and changes you as the educational leader want to see made in the program. Is the program addressing the learning needs of ALL the students? How will you as the educational leader go about making any necessary changes to the program? The plan will be submitted to the district superintendent and then seek school board approval. Your work should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course. Support your paper with seven (7) scholarly sources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
