Write a full 5 pages essay in which you work on ideas about cultural identity and cultural misunderstandings by including examples and evidence from Dean Barnlund’s “Communication in a Global Village”, and two other readings: Jack Solomon’s “Masters of Desire: The Culture of American Advertising” and “Introduction” to Signs of Life by Sonia Maasik and Jack Solomon. . You need to use at least one personal example or advertisement. For this essay, you should make a point of your own —that is, introduce and discuss a thesis/argument—based on connections you have discovered between Barnlund and Maasik and Solomon’s and Mori’s or Lubrano’s ideas and examples. In your introduction, present a thesis/argument (an idea of your own) based on interesting connections you have discovered between Barnlund, Solomon, Maasik and Solomon. After introducing your thesis, make sure that each paragraph stays focused on that idea and advances it.
