Woodrow Wilson’s War Speech and several of the Library of Congress World War I veterans’ accounts

Read Woodrow Wilson’s War Speech and several of the Library of Congress World War I veterans’ accounts. Based on these and on the class lectures, answer the following questions. What reasons did President Wilson give for entering World War I? According to Wilson, how would the US know when it had won the war? Were Wilson’s goals measurable and achievable (be sure to explain)? What was life like on the front lines (especially on the Western Front) during World War I? For what did the men fighting there seem to be fighting? Were the war goals of the men on the line (in the trenches, especially) the same as Woodrow Wilson’s goals? How were they the same/different? Was World War I a “glorious war?”
