Visual Analysis

Write a visual analysis of 2 different portraits which depict the same historical figure

Use Elements of a Portrait and Language of Visual AnalysisPreview the document– with the exception of context. You have to make an argument about who this person is based solely upon the visual elements found in each portrait. Do not include any textual information - do not refer to the person by name. Imagine you are writing about a portrait of someone you know nothing about.
Compare and contrast the different decisions each artist made to depict the historical figure you’ve chosen, and use them both to argue who you think the figure is.

Discuss the successes or failures of each portrait in conveying the historical figure and their story. In this case, discussing the context of each portrait will be absolutely necessary; however, your initial analysis must rely solely upon visual elements.
This second half will have a different thesis.
