Virtual communication is experienced as taxing and effortful, sometimes known as ‘zoom fatigue’. Develop an essay that argues FOR the role of TWO language processes in zoom fatigue. Guidance: The essay must describe the language processes being focussed on before describing the evidence for how they could be relevant to Zoom Fatigue. The essay must demonstrate familiarity with language processes. Think about the big themes • Speech segmentation • Phoneme perception • Auditory word recognition • Sentence parsing • Lexical selection • Form encoding​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​• Sentence production Think about the models that relate to these themes • Dual code model • Cohort model • Referential theory • Serial-discrete model • 2-stage model of sentence production Include an introduction that briefly introduces Zoom Fatigue and introduce the 2 processes that will be focused on. By the end of the first paragraph or page, reader should know what the essay is about. Dedicate enough space to explaining the language process you are studying. The processes should underpin the whole essay, must demonstrate understanding. Present evidence fully, providing the key information. Organize evidence so one point builds on what came before it.
