The motion “Hip-hop doesn’t enhance society, it degrades it” is a complex one, and there are valid arguments to be made on both sides.
On the one hand, it is true that some hip-hop music contains lyrics that are violent, misogynistic, and/or promotes drug use. This type of music can be harmful, especially to young people who are impressionable. It can also contribute to negative stereotypes about black people and other marginalized groups.
