Understanding Comics

        Order Description   In these responses, you will select one of the scholarly readings, you could use the Gardner, Nyberg, or Wertham readings,and use it to better understand the comic you read for that same week.   You should not merely regurgitate the readings; you should be responding to the ideas contained therein and applying those concepts to a comics text. You must illustrate your points as necessary with images from the comics. Here are three books you need to read for this essay: 1. Scott McCloud, Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art (New York: HarperPerennial, 1993) 2. Jared Gardner, Projections: Comics and the History of Twenty-First-Century Storytelling (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 2012) 3. Jeet Heer and Kent Worcester, eds., A Comics Studies Reader (Jackson: University Press of Mississippi, 2009)
