Tools to Predict the Market ?

Instructions: (the file and website for this assignment is at the end of these instructions)

I have pre-identified 10 of the most important economic and real estate indices for evaluating the real estate market.

Your assignment is to review the 10 charts in the file and website identified below. After reviewing, your task is to select the 7 indices that you believe to be the best indices to use as real estate market predictors and discuss why you think they are the best.

This Discussion and the last Discussion (#4) are extremely important and cover material that puts you head and shoulders above most other real estate professionals; the ability to predict the future of the real estate market.

Here are the 10 indices for you to review:

1) GDP

2) Consumer Spending

3) Consumer Confidence

4) Unemployment

5) Property Value

6) Mortgage Rates

7) Nahb Housing Market

8) Building Permits

9) Affordability Index

10) Housing Inventory

To gain this power you must be able to read and interpret key Economic and Market indices. This is your opportunity to gain that magical power.

There are 100's and 1000's of economic and real estate indices on the file and website you will be using below. Don't hesitate to peruse through other indices; there are many you will find quite interesting.

Remember to get full credit for this Discussion Forum, you must respond to my question first,
and then respond to another student’s response. The intent is to get some dialogue going
between students…………like a real classroom discussion. This Discussion Forum is
worth 60 points,
For this many points I would expect some time, some thought, and some energy.
I will be grading accordingly.
