The purpose of this assignment is twofold: first, to present and discuss the relationship between concepts and theories in the literature such as agenda-building and effects and those public communication practices evident in the representation of the selected issue in the media; and second, to identify the issues for society in the use of public communication practices with reference to theory and practice and using the selected issue.
In this assignment discuss the relationship between theory and practice. They address the role of public communication in the public sphere and refer to an issue depicted in the media in order to assess the influence of work for particular sectors on professional roles and practices. The subject coordinator provides a question to address in the report and a choice of contemporary media issues to illustrate the contribution of public communication to the public sphere. Students complete this task with reference to two resources: the academic literature and the media coverage of an Issue.
