The Ultimate Punishment The Death Penalty

Topic: The Ultimate Punishment The Death Penalty Order Description writing an editorial (imagine it would be published in a newspaper or magazine of your choice). So, it will be a specific issue pertaining to the death penalty. I want you to be focused on 1 specific aspect of this issues, not just make a general statement about whether the death penalty is good or bad. You will do some research to back up your own argument (not adopt the exact argument of the authors) and I want at least 4 outside sources. One of the sources can be Scott Turow, but I want you to go elsewhere for other facts/points. DO NOT use wikipedia as a source, or any source that is not credible. Sources that are credible have authors who are qualified to back up their evidence. Websites without authors generally are not. You will have a Works Cited page (even though most editorials do not use them) so that I can see your sources. You will use MLA for this paper OR APA, but you must stick with one method. In-text citations and the Works Cited page (or References) MUST be done properly with ZERO mistakes, or I will take off for each mistake. Use your Hacker book for proper citing. And remember, plagiarism occurs when you don't cite, even if you take someone else's ideas and put them in your own words. You can have more than four sources, but that is the minimum. This editorial should NOT be a bunch of citing statistics--remember, the purpose of an editorial is to get the reader to consider your point of view. You have to use ethos, pathos, and logos to make that happen. First, and most importantly, you need a thesis, your own argument on one of the issues. If you are confused about your thesis, email it to me and I'll let you know what I think. Then you need to support it using every skill you've developed from writing. Be clear and make sure you have a combination of ethos, pathos, and logos.
