The Search for New York

For our final essay of the semester your task is to select a particular site in New York City that is under threat, whether of destruction, repurposing, etc. The site doesn’t have to be a building; you could write about a park, statue, warehouse, etc. You will conduct research on the site’s history. And original purpose, the origins of the threat against it, the potential effects of the threat, and the research, you will then craft an argument and articulate a persuasive claim as to what should be done about the site.

In this essay, you will demonstrate your research and rhetorical skills, as the essay requires that you conduct primary research on a particular site and articulate a persuasive and effective claim regarding what should be done about the site. Your final draft of the essay should be 1100-1250 words.
