The rise of cities

The rise of cities affected every aspect of life as it became much more complex. The first economic hub Urus influenced Mesopotamia in many ways as a religious center with temples for the Gods and a base to political powers who controlled and governed people. The Mesopotamian religion was an ideology where people contributed their products to the gods (p49). With this widely followed ideology, military leaders began to use temples to legitimize their own rule. This lead to rulers growing into a great power where kinds were considered mortal representatives of the gods (p55).
