Description
The Other Car Analysis
Please read The Other Car. Provide a minimum of two paragraphs of analysis about the sample.
Your sample analysis work should analyze the style of the essay. Consider the author's voice, strategies for organization, strategies for development, and anything else that you, as a writer or reader, find interesting. Then connect the sample to your assigned reading and the class lecture about this genre. In what ways has the author met the expectations set out by the chapter? In what ways has the author broken those expectations? What was the impact?
These questions might help, but you are not required to use them:
- Describe the unique features of the genre we are studying (your chapter reading will help with this)
- How does the essay you are reading fit with your expectations of the genre? What is the purpose of this essay, and how does the genre advance that purpose? Do you see any other genres blended in?
- How does this author introduce the essay? What is the impact on you as a reader?
- What is the tone of the essay? Based on the tone and any other clues, who do you think the target audience of this essay is?
- What development strategies do you see this author using? How effective are they? Why?
- What else do you notice about the style, organization, or development of this essay?
