The New Deal coalition

In the second half of the semester, we looked at how the New Deal coalition,
that emerged in the aftermath of World War II, collapsed by the mid-1960s and early
1970s. What caused this collapse? Was it inevitable? Why/Why not? 2. In the second
half of the semester, we looked at the resurgence of the conservative movement and the
“Reagan Revolution” of the late 70s and 80s. What was this revolution? Where did it
manifest in American life? Did this revolution have its origins in earlier moments in the
post-war period? 3. In the second half of the semester we looked at specific moments in
post-war America that demonstrated a polarized country. When and how did America
become so polarized? How did the media and the role of the media in American life
change and do those changes correlate to the polarization?
