Assignment: This paper is an evaluation of what went wrong at Enron, the red flags, and what actions you
propose would have averted this disaster. Use the Kaptein text as your guide. After viewing the movie and
reading the article, answer the following questions. Your responses should identify the question and provide a
thorough yet succinct answer. Answers should comply with APA guidelines, double spaced with 12 font. This is
an individual assignment due 1/29. No late papers accepted.
1.Based on Kaptein, how do peoples’ moral nature and the environment provide some explanation of what
occurred at Enron? Cite examples from the movie and text to support your points.
Apply the seven factor model from Kaptein to identify at least 2-3 examples from the movie for each one of the
seven factors and the related behavioral research. Provide examples of decisions, actions or non-actions that
were the catalyst for bad behavior in the future. What happened (actually) and should have happened (the right
thing) at Enron based upon Kaptein’s model? Cite the text.
Kaptein writes that challenge is the open confrontation of right and wrong and an important act to assure a
moral and ethical person and organization. Choose an example you cited in question 2 and explain how you
would personally challenge the issue in the workplace. I suggest you look at pages 129-130 to help construct
an intervention.
- Skilling emphasized in his testimony before Congress that he was only acting in the interests of the
shareholders. Do you agree? How would decisions be made differently under the stakeholder theory model?
