Description
Find an argumentative article from a credible opinionated source (CNN, Fox News, NPR, Google News, etc). DO NOT USE THE ONE PROVIDED FOR IT IS NOT AN OPINIONATED ARTICLE. The essay must focus on the Pathos, Logos, and Ethos of the writer's article. Offer, a clear unbiased summary of the reading that it chooses to engage. Use quotes when citing evidence from the article. THESIS: should explain how/why the article provides a strong/effective argument (and what makes it a strong argument), a weak/ineffective argument (and what would make it stronger), or a mix of both (with explanation).
-Who is making this argument? What do they have at stake? Can I trust them? How do I know? Do
they have credibility? What is their ethos? (character/credibility)
-Who is the argument directed at? Who is its intended audience? How does the argument/writer
connect with that audience? How does it establish credibility with that audience?
-What logos, or logic/facts are used? Is EVERY claim backed up with plausible and sufficient evidence? What sources is the author using? Are they well-cited and trustworthy?
-How does the writing style and/or voice affect the argument being made? Is it appropriate for the purpose and audience?
-Is the topic “exigent”? What larger conversation is the text a part of?
