The influence of the federal government on the functions and processes of postsecondary education

Despite efforts to limit the influence of the federal government on the functions and processes of postsecondary education, the presence of the federal government on college and university campuses is ever more intrusive. From your perspective, why is it that the words of postsecondary officials call for the exclusion of the federal government, but their actions state otherwise? Describe a program provided through the federal government that provides targeted services to underrepresented populations that postsecondary institutions find hard to resist, despite the aggressive regulatory and financial conditions imposed by the federal government. Be sure to explain how the program addresses the underrepresented need.
