Read the assigned selections of The Inferno , and notice how Dante, the character, is being led by Virgil to give
him insight into the workings of Divine Justice. Pick one example of Divine Justice in one of the scenes in the
assigned pages of this work, and discuss how Dante defines Divine Justice in this scene. You will note that
throughout this work, the punishment in some way mimics the crime. Discuss the details of how this is so, or
perhaps, how it differs from this general pattern. At times, the punishments are not replicas of the earthly sins,
but are symbolic.
