NCLB, now repealed, mandated that all children meet the same high academic standards. IDEA. on the contrary, has always focused on the unique needs of each individual student. Many had argued that these two federal laws were inherently in conflict. In December of 2015 NCLB was replaced with ESSA (Every Student Succeed Act-www.ed.gov/ESSA). What has been the impact of that change in the law on students with disabilities. In 5-7 pages critically discuss, with support from your literature search, the conflict between IDEA and NCLB and how the repeal of NCLB and the enactment of ESSA has impacted students with disabilities. I have attached a publication from the National Council on Disability on the ESSA to provide the foundation for your research.
