The Iliad

Is the Iliad an anti-war poem? That is, does it take a position that endorses the sort of warfare it portrays, or does it oppose (or remain neutral about) war? To answer the question, you may take into account the opinions voiced by individual characters, but remember that these do not necessarily coincide with the author’s opinions. When looking at the characters’ words, then, make sure to take their context into account: who is speaking, and why? How do other characters react to his or her words? What are the effects of these wo
