Required Format — Please adhere to the required format so that I can focus on the substance of your work instead of its format
Title Page: The title page must include the title (e.g., A Future Operating Environment Scenario for the U.S. ), your name, course name and number, date, and
Introduction: This section provides a brief overview of what to expect generally in the next 15-30 years into the future, a concise synopsis of the main
national security issues projected to be of concern in the next 15-30 years, and a concise summary statement of your specific Future Operating Environment
Scenario (FOES) sufficient to provide the reader with a good idea of the vision of the future you will be presenting. This section should be 1 page.
Scenario: This section provides the results of your research on and analysis of a possible, plausible, and probable future.
It will be structured using either the Four Focus Areas: Technology, the International System, Governance, and Conflict, or the Six JOE 2035 Contexts. It is
your choice which organizing framework you use, but you must be explicit in identifying which you will use in your introduction.
Conclusion: This section provides a concise summary of the future national security challenges and problems the United States must address in your
scenario. This section should be 1 page.
Assess the key influences on the international and national security environments in the near- and long-term future.

information/evidence used in the substance of the work can be identified and verified) and/or scholarly (i.e., both the author and the sources of
information/evidence used in the substance of the work can be identified and have been verified by peer-review of experts in the field). A minimum number of
sufficient references is at least two per section (i.e., provide references to at least two credible/scholarly sources of information/evidence for each of either
the Four Focus Areas: Technology, the International System, Governance, and Conflict, or the each of the Six JOE 2035 Contexts (whichever you use as your
organizing framework for this assignment), and more is better.
Type in Times New Roman, 12 point and double space.
Use in-text parenthetical references (i.e., (author last name and date of publication, page number(Jordan 2020, 237)) in the body of the paper and provide
complete citations in the bibliography for all works referenced in the paper (Author name, name of publication, (publisher, date of publication)).
In terms of scoring, the point values associated with each required section of the FOES writing assignment correspond with the required number of pages for
each. For example, the Title Page and Introduction are worth 1/6 of the possible points; the Future Operating Environment Scenario is worth 2/3 (4/6) of the
possible points; and the Conclusion and Bibliography are worth 1/6 of the possible points. This should encourage you to focus your efforts accordingly.
