Telecommunication InfoSys: Final Assessment Case Study

Telecommunication InfoSys: Final Assessment Case Study Project description Define the requirements of the GIVEN CASE STUDY (Attached) and then design an appropriate network that would support the combined construction project management firm. Your paper should: SECTION 1. Analyze the given case and provide a clear set of requirements for the network solution SECTION 2. Identify the information that is to be protected and the related security requirements SECTION 3. Identify the types of network(s), components, devices and equipment that would be involved in meeting the needs of the stationary offices and the mobile staff SECTION 4. Provide a network design diagram that clearly shows an appropriate network configuration to meet the requirements, with the components properly labeled, ALSO PLEASE PROVIDE A SUFFICIENT AND ORIGINAL DIAGRAM SECTION 5. Explain the benefits of the proposed network solution IFSM 370 Project 5: Final Assessment Instructions Introduction Using the case study below, develop a 3 – 5 page paper that is well organized and provides specific answers to each part of the assignment. Your solution must be complete and demonstrate your understanding of ALL of this semester’s lessons. The completed Final Assessment deliverable is due by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the due shown in the Course Schedule. Please see the Syllabus > Additional information for the penalty for a late/missed Authentic Assessment assignment. The Final Assessment is valued at 15% of the course grade. Case Study Leviathan, Inc. is a construction project management firm. In June 2014, Leviathan acquired long-time partner Wyvern, LLC. While Wyvern is a smaller firm, it specializes in retail construction project management and Leviathan needs this element to complete its project management business offering. With the acquisition, there are now three offices: the two Leviathan offices in Charlotte, NC and the Wyvern office in Columbia, MD. You are a telecommunications/data communications consultant. Leviathan hired you to assist the company with consolidating and building telecommunications/data communications solution for the combined company. Rathan Projects’ two Charlotte, NC offices house the following employees: • CEO • COO • CFO • Director, Project Management Office • Director, HR • IT Manager • Office Manager (shared between offices) • 2 Administrative Assistants/Receptionists • 17 Project Managers • 7 Quality Control Field Engineers • 7 Safety Engineers • 5 Environmental Engineers • 5 Regulatory Engineers • 5 Project Administration Specialists Page 1 of 6 IFSM 370 Project 5: Final Assessment Instructions Wyvern outsourced HR, IT, and other non-core business activities. After the acquisition was completed, the CEO/Owner, left the Wyvern. The lone Wyvern office currently houses the following employees: • 1 Office Manager • 1 Administrative Assistants/Receptionists • 5 Project Managers • 2 Quality Control Field Engineers • 1 Safety/Regulatory Engineer • 1 Modelling Engineer All of the Project Managers and Engineers work in the offices, but also are mobile when working onsite at a construction location. Construction project locations are nationwide. When mobile, Project Managers and Engineers need to be able to view, send, and receive construction project management documentation (project plans, project schedules, status reports, blueprints, architectural drawings, etc.) just as if they are in the office. All executives and managers must have real-time access to all staff working at construction sites and the related documentation. Others on the team will develop, update, and combine outsourced IT applications and databases. Leviathan wants you design the telecommunications network to support this new multilocation, mobile oriented company. Your task is to identify the requirements and design a network solution that will meet those requirements. The COO reminded you that they are required to comply with 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Parts 70A and 71. This means the network must address the related security requirements. Page 2 of 6 IFSM 370 Project 5: Final Assessment Instructions The Deliverable Define the requirements and then design an appropriate network that would support the combined construction project management firm. Your paper should: 1. Analyze the given case and provide a clear set of requirements for the network solution 2. Identify the information that is to be protected and the related security requirements 3. Identify the types of network(s), components, devices and equipment that would be involved in meeting the needs of the stationary offices and the mobile staff 4. Provide a network design diagram that clearly shows an appropriate network configuration to meet the requirements, with the components properly labeled 5. Explain the benefits of the proposed network solution Here is what you need to do: 1. Use MS Word to prepare a 3 – 5 page white paper with the attributes discussed above. 2. The 3 – 5 page count does not include the cover page, Reference/Works Cited page (see below), or illustrations (if used). 3. Please note that illustrations, if used, must be appropriate, be related to the topic, and add value to the paper. 4. The paper must have a cover page that includes the document title, date and your full name. The cover page is not included in the page count. 5. Line spacing must be no more than 1.5 and the font must be Arial, 12 point. 6. Use the bolded “Attributes” in the Evaluation & Scoring Rubric below for section headings in the paper. 7. External research and a References or Works Cited page (see below) are required. You must use of at least three (3) external scholarly resources. This is in addition to any course materials from assigned readings. Page 3 of 6 IFSM 370 Project 5: Final Assessment Instructions 8. The paper must have a separate References or Works Cited page at the end of the document that is used to correctly cite and reference all sources including course materials, as appropriate. This page must be titled, References or Works Cited, and not some other title like bibliography, citations, end notes, etc. 9. You should use scholarly journals. If you need assistance with determining what a scholarly journal is, the UMUC library is a very good source of information, accessed via the following link: http://www.umuc.edu/library/libhow/articles.cfm. 10. Do not simply copy and paste information from the Web or copy information from the readings or other sources. 11. Be sure to provide the appropriate APA formatted citations on the References or Works Cited page to avoid the perception of plagiarism. This includes citing all external sources including the vendor Web sites, assigned readings, the case study, and other sources, as appropriate. NOTE: Wiki sites such as Wikipedia and authorless sites/blogs are not acceptable references. 12. If you are not familiar with the APA style and citations, there are also several links under Webliography that can assist you. If you are using MS Word 2007 or 2010, there is a Citations & Bibliography feature located under the References tab. 13. At all costs, avoid any hint or perception of plagiarism. 14. Be sure to check for spelling, grammar and format errors prior to submitting the document. These are all items that will be evaluated and scored. 15. Submit the paper by the due date (See the Course Schedule) in MS Word format via the Project 5: Final Assessment assignment folder as an attached document with your last name in the beginning of the filename (Last Name_Final Assessment).
