Team Leader Observation
During this week observe the Leader of a team that you are a part of either in your work or in your personal life. Be sure to take notes of your observations. Complete a 2-3 page paper sharing your observations of the Leader's attitudes and behaviors with the team. Do not focus on the members of the team. Be sure to comment on these questions: 1. Agenda or topic discussed 2. Attendants 3. Observations about what occurred, for example: a. Was the Leader able to create a cooperative environment for the activity pursued? b. Was the Leader able to keep the team/groups attention? If so, how? c. Did the team/group Leader practice a particular style of problem solving? If so, what approach did she/he use? d. Did conflict arise? If so, how was it handled? Was it handled? e. Did the leader keep the team/group focused on its task? Was the task defined? What kinds of behaviors illustrated this? f. Did team/group members accomplish the goal (purpose) of the meeting under the guidance of the Leader or inspire of the Leader?
