Synthesis Clinical Project
The objectives of the synthesis clinical project are to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of how evidence is developed and utilized in the
process of retrieval, appraisal, synthesis and evaluation to improve patient outcomes.
2. Employ principles of quality improvement, health care policy and cost effectiveness
to assist in the development, initiation and/or evaluation of an effective plan for a micro
system practice improvement that will improve the quality of health care delivery.
The student will participate in the development, monitoring and/or evaluation of a
quality improvement initiative in the agency in which they are completing their
synthesis clinical-
0 The student will develop a PICO question and complete a review of relevant literature
using the John Hopkins tool kit found on the Canvas web site- The John Hopkins forms
B, question development, will be used to assist the student in PICO question
development- E and F forms will be used to evaluate the selected literature. This
assignment will be turned in to the faculty by September 12th-
0 Students projects will vary depending on the need of the agency. Working closely
with your faculty advisor will be important and required-
The synthesis clinical project builds upon the quality management theory presented in
the companion course.
