Strengths and weaknesses in the area of reading a college textbook

Reading Comprehension Paper (50 points)

Based on readings from the text and your class discussion, what strategies are you planning to implement to improve reading comprehension? Address each of the areas below:

  1. List specific examples of YOUR strengths and weaknesses in the area of reading a college textbook?
  2. What strategies will help you improve your concentration and focus while reading?
  3. Discuss in your own words, the three (3) steps of active reading outlined in you text.
  4. What did you learn about approaching different types of reading assignments (e.g., how to read for math/science, journals, work)?
    • Remember to use the following to help organize: you need an introduction, a body (where you address the above questions), and a conclusion.

• You need supporting information for each of your points. Be focused in your ideas and provide supporting evidence (examples) where appropriate.

• You have 4 areas to discuss, (see questions above). Be clear with each of your paragraphs; avoid repeating the same idea(s) over and over again. This paper should be at least 2 pages in length.

• Check your grammar, words usage and other mechanics. There is no excuse for misspelled words in a final exam paper in WORD. Word lets you know if you have misspelled something! Double check and read it out loud to yourself.
