As you know, risk for suicide is high soon after a person learns of their positive HIV status. In the video, Eazy-E learns that he has AIDS and is terminally ill with a prognosis of less than six months. A successful gangsta rap artist, he is 30 years old and his girlfriend is pregnant with their child.
Answer the following questions from your perspective as his psychiatric nurse practitioner, in a paper no longer than two double-spaced pages (not including the reference page), in APA format. Note that the questions are different from prior weeks.
- If you were to interview Eazy-E, what questions would you ask to determine if he were suicidal, with a plan and intention to end his life?
- If he identifies that he is feeling suicidal, what would be your next steps?
- If Eazy-E is having suicidal ideation (he has no plan or intention to end his life) and does not meet criteria to be hospitalized for psychiatric care, what type of services could you identify for him?
- Identify five possible risk factors for Eazy-E that would raise his risk for suicidality.
- Identify one countertransference issue you would have in relation to working with Eazy-E.
