Sport Coaching
You are a coach in Cardio Tennis and you are considering how you will help your participants learn. You are required to compare and contrast two possible approaches you could adopt in supporting their learning and consider the potential impact on one of the 4Cs of positive youth development (PYD). In doing so, you should: ? Outline a skill you want the participants to learn (2 marks) ? State the C of PYD you have selected and define what is meant by it (3 marks) ? Consider one way in which you could coach the session (i.e., from one perspective on learning) and the impact it would have on one of the 4Cs of PYD (10 marks). ? Discuss another way in which you could coach the session (i.e., from another perspective on learning) and the impact it would have on the same C of PYD (10 marks). ? Compare and contrast the two approaches: (i) Use examples (positive and/or negative) from your own learning in Cardio Tennis practicals and in other sport settings (personal experiences) to support your claims (10 marks); and (ii) Make appropriate references to key theorists and authors to demonstrate your understanding (15 marks). Use APA (6th edition) for referencing - see UQ website for details. ? You are encouraged to write in 1st person (i.e. make use of I, me, my, etc). You should also be consistent in the use of ‘tense’ (i.e. past, present, future). ? We will not read any drafts of your work but are available for consultation by appointment during our office hours (Tuesdays 2:00-3:30pm). ? You are encouraged to discuss your thoughts about the assignment with a buddy; however, be cognisant of what is plagiarism.
