1.Think back to when you gave your last impromptu speech, what alleviation strategies did you use to manage your apprehension? Make sure to include all three strategies (which are 1. systematic desensitization 2.skills training 3.cognitive restructuring)discussed in class as well as individual strategies you may have used for yourself.
2.Think about a television show or movie that you enjoy. Evaluate the plot using the plot diagram and explain the connection to "performance" in a public speaking context.
3.Imagine you are giving an impromptu speech on the topic: "Life is lived forwards but understood backwards." Bullet point the speech using the organizational model.
4.Explain the two communication drives discussed in class (which are self interest and social compliance)and relate them to Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Be sure to discuss the role of group dynamics in your answer.
Imagine that you are writing an informative speech about the Kennedy assassination. Research the topic and find one source to: a) summarize the article, and b) explain how it meets the research criteria.
