Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely

  Instructions: Setting goals helps us to visualize what we want for our lives. This discussion post will give you an opportunity to develop and share S.M.A.R.T Goals with your peers. You will also have a chance to reflect upon and describe how you may be able to use some Herzing University resources as tools to help achieve your goals. Please remember to complete the Required Readings and view the presentations for Unit 4 before you begin drafting your response to the discussion question. Discussion Question: Part 1-Identify one goal (academic or professional) that you want to work towards within the next 6 months. Please create a goal statement that adheres to the qualities of an effective goal. Your goal statement should be: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely Part 2-Once you have developed your S.M.A.R.T Goal, please list 3 steps that you can take to make progress towards the goal. Part 3-Based upon what you learned about Herzing University resources, identify at least one resource/service that can help you achieve your goal. Here is an example of a discussion post that addresses all three parts: Example: Create a quiet study space (goal #1), submit all work before due date (goal #2), contact instructor/staff with questions and become familiar with university resources (goal #3) Goal: To work on classes in a quiet, distraction free space at least 6 hours per week. Step: #1 – Go to the library 2 hours per week Step: #2 – Turn off all media or electronic devices during this time Step: #3 – Study when family members are away from home or sleeping Herzing Library resources can help me achieve my goal. Utilizing Herzing Library will allow me a central place to learn, explore articles, encourage my curiosity, and help with problem solving.
