Solving Unemployment

An annotated bibliography is an extended or comprehensive bibliography that not only details a text's citation information, but also includes a summary and analysis of the author's methods and findings. Creating an annotated bibliography is a way of becoming familiar with the current research that has been conducted on relevant social issues and evaluating their research claims.
A research proposal is a plan for future research. Sociologists and other researchers must write research proposals for various reasons including: achieving funding for their project, receiving approval from Institutional Review Boards (Ethics Review Boards), and getting the "green light" from one's employer or advisor to begin collecting data.
Before the Paper: As we are trained in our Library Instructional Session, we will use our library's databases to Academic Journal Articles which display researchers original research. For this assignment. you will be looking for three current (within the last 10 years) social science research, preferably sociological, peer-reviewed research articles. Research Proposal Given what you have learned from the current research literature, design your own study by answering the following questions: A. What do you intend to study? In other words, what variables will you collect data on? What is your hypothesis or prediction about the relationship between these variables? B. Describe your methodology (refer to Chapter 2) for collecting data (e.g. survey questionnaire, interview, participant observation, etc..). Why is this a strong methodology to use? What are the drawbacks? C. Sample & Sample Size: Who specifically will you collect data from? (Note: Most researchers are trying to get as diverse of a sample of people as possible to give a good representation of the human experience.) D. Conclusion: Conclude your paper by describing what the potential impact of your study could be if your hypothesis was supported by the data. What do we stand to learn about this top.
