Instructions: Family life in the United States during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries in America were very different than it is today, however in some respects, it has not changed. Imagine that you were living in the United States during one of these historical time periods. How would your family life be different from what it is today? How would larger social structures such as religion, childhood, education, marriage, parenting, work, race/ethnicity, class, and gender, etc. have shaped your life differently in the past than they do today?
