Demonstrate WHY IT MATTERS WHILE describing the stages you are identifying. You will produce a 5 paragraph essay with an introduction, body and conclusion. Introduction: Your introduction will introduce the reader to the social movement. It will provide a summary of the movement demonstrating your understanding of the social movement. You will identify the persons, actions, policy changes/recommendations and demands. No quoted material will be used, for this is the space for your own voice to demonstrate understanding of what a social movement and demonstrate that your selected social movement is in fact a social movement. You will lead into the argument of the WHY of the social movement. Your WHY statement is your THESIS statement. You will use a controlling statement following yout thesis statement. The controlling statement shows what direction you are going to take in writing about the topic. It helps the reader understand your purpose for writing the paragraph or essay. The controlling statement with provide the 3 reasons WHY the movement mattered, matters and will matter. Body: Your 3 body paragraphs will focus and answer on the following questions using EVIDENCE found in your research. Each paragraph should reflect 2 researched sources
