Social Awareness Presentation

Scenario
You are a member of a high-functioning team and want to apply for an open management position. Part of the interviewing process involves you reflecting on your own behavioral growth and development in order to demonstrate your commitment to relating to others while achieving personal and professional goals.

To do this, you will identify two different situations that indicate a focus/change needed to make others want to work with you as their manager. One situation needs to be a positive experience, while the second needs to be a negative experience.

Instructions
Create a presentation (i.e. PowerPoint, Visio, YouTube, ScreenPal, Prezi, etc.) based on your self-awareness of your behaviors in the workplace and based on each situation you identified for self-awareness.

Your presentation will need to include the following criterions:

Summary of the importance of self-awareness as it relates to behavioral growth and development
Details or background on the two situations identified (positive and negative).
One of the following:
Either create a single interview scenario. For this scenario, on separate slides, present two versions of that scenario: one positive and one negative. For each version, include detailed speaker notes.
   -OR-

Introduce two separate scenarios, one is the positive scenario on its own slide(s) with well-developed speaker notes attached, one is the negative scenario on its own slide(s) with well-developed speaker notes attached.
For each situation identified (positive and negative):
Discuss what nonverbal cues were given or used.
Explain what the outcomes are.
Determine what tools could be used to make improvements (i.e. listening more, empathy, more information, etc.).

Speaker Notes for Slide 2
Self-awareness isn't just a buzzword; it's the bedrock of effective leadership. It's about truly understanding our strengths, weaknesses, values, and how our emotions influence our actions. For a manager, this means recognizing how our behavior, verbal and nonverbal, impacts team morale, productivity, and the overall working environment. It allows us to build trust, adapt our approach, and ultimately, foster a highly collaborative and positive team culture. Without it, even the most skilled individual contributors can struggle in a leadership role.
