The first version is as collected by the Brothers Grimm, and it is quite harsh - the second version is “ Snow, Glass, Apples” Neil Gaiman’s 1995 retelling of the story, and is definitely for adults, and very dark indeed. Write an essay contrasting the Grimm and Gaiman versions and discussing what the latter might reveal about modern audiences and the world we live in.
