Beta discovered that her best friend Cora was having an affair with her husband. Devastated, Beta made hundreds of silent phone calls to Cora’s mobile phone. Beta would also follow her to and from work and told Cora's workmates, including Cora’s boss, that Cora was not to be trusted and was a 'home wrecker.' As a result, Cora developed serious depression and a sleep disorder for which she required counselling.
One day as Cora was about to go shopping, Beta jumped out of a bush which startled Cora. Beta threw liquid over her at which point Cora started to run as fast as she could. Cora tripped over as she ran and fell into ditch by the side of a road causing a cut to her arm. As Cora was depressed, she did not seek immediate medical help and when she eventually did get stitches for her cut, she unpicked them. Cora suffered an infection which was treated by doctors and is now left with permanent injuries to her arm. The liquid turned out to be water.
