Please read the attachment and have them match. Thank you
This week, you will turn your research question into a hypothesis. Now, this may be a little more difficult than you think - so don't panic if it takes you a couple of tries. I want you to think back to the search terms you used in last week's assignment - for many of you, those are the variables you will use to draft your hypothesis. You have already done some preliminary research - think about what you found. For example, if I am researching what led the Tsnaraev brothers to bomb the Boston Marathon and my initial research showed that the family struggled with finding work and did not have an advanced education; and that they were scarred from their war-torn country, I may decide that my variables are: war, poverty, education.
For this assignment, please draft your equation like I did below. Then, simply list your hypothesis and the alternate (what if my hypothesis is not true?). This example would look like this:
Exposure to War + Discontent + Poverty + Lack of Education = Domestic Terrorist
Then, my hypothesis would be:
H1: The Tsarnaev brothers became terrorists because they were exposed to war in their homeland, did not prosper in America and were not highly educated.
H2: Exposure to war in their homeland, lack of prosperity and education were not factors in the Tsarnaev brothers bombing the Boston Marathon.
Important – notice how I included the ‘null’ hypothesis – or opposite of my hypothesis. The challenge I face if I do it this way – if only one of those variable is NOT true, then the WHOLE hypothesis would not be true. So I may want to take a different approach.
Using the same topic, I would break it into three hypotheses.
H1: Exposure to war leads to terrorism.
H2: Poverty leads to terrorism.
H3: Lack of education leads to terrorism.
I expect each of you to submit your equation, hypothesis and at least one alternate in the assignment. Then, provide a short review of at least two sources you have found - tell me how they pertain to your hypothesis. What did you read in the source that helped you pick out your variable and help you create the hypothesis? You should start using in-text citations and again - properly list your references. Before you do your reference list, look at any comments/corrections from last week's assignment!
Please remember to submit as an attachment so I can provide you comments. Please remember to double-space your assignment! This is a short assignment 1 - 2 pages, including your reference list. Remember - all of the elements of the title page should be on this paper! You do not need a title page; but you should have all the elements of it at the top of the first page.
If you have a title page, make sure you have a running head. Let’s say I have the title as Week 2. The first page would have this in the header:
Running Head: WEEK 2
The other pages would be:
WEEK 2
Remember – the running head is a short version of your title – only 2-3 words.
