Sexuality in different cultures

The point of studying sexuality in different cultures is NOT to teach that there are a lot of exotic people out
there doing exotic things. Rather, the point is to remind ourselves that each group has its own culture, and this
culture as a profound influence on the sexual expression of the people who grow up in it."
With this in mind, choose that ONE culture you saw highlighted in either chapter 1, OR look across the various
'sexually diverse world' inserts in other chapters or in Chapter 19. You can also choose a historical culture, i.e.
a group of people like the ancient Greeks. Briefly restate the sexual set of meanings the group have adopted
before doing a Google/ Wikipedia/ etc. search about the people. Then choose three things you learned about
this group that are not directly related to sexual behavior. The aim here is to tell us about the people, to remind
us that these other cultures are not just sentences in a book. They may do things differently, but different is not
always right or wrong, better or worse, sometimes it is just different. Keep the idea of ethnocentrism in mind
while learning and sharing a bit more about the culture you decided to learn about and the 'rules of
engagement' statement about not yucking someone's yum' :)
