Self-reflection

Take an action from your own life—something you did, and something that
others would ordinarily say you did of your own free will. It should be something that
others would ordinarily say you were "responsible" for. It can be something simple and
uneventful, or it can be something important and life-altering. Then what I want you do is
the following:
Describe what it is you did, and why you did it. Include any relevant details of the circumstances.
Provide a determinist interpretation of what you did.
Interpret -the action as simply the consequence of factors outside of your control. Be sure to define
determinism (no dictionary entries, please!), and describe why a determinist denies free will.
Tell me whether, in light of the determinist's interpretation, you think it is fair to say that your action was simply
the consequence of factors outside of your control.
Describe the paradox of responsibility, and tell me whether you think you were in fact responsible for your
action.
