As we have discussed in the module, risk and its management are a multifaceted topic that must be addressed by all organisations in a variety of ways. As such, this paper will allow you to demonstrate a deeper level of understanding of managing risk. Therefore, you should complete all 4 steps:
(1) Identify a worldwide incident where risk management failed.
(2) Complete a root cause analysis and critically discuss what happened (what went wrong) and how stakeholders were managed.
(3) Then suggest alternative approaches that could be used and the lessons learnt, referencing your discussion to the literature on accidents.
- (4) Draw on your own experience and reflections resulting from your previous work and/or the seminar programme to critically discuss the strengths
and limitations of various tools and techniques.
