Resilience, Well-Being, and Leadership

Description

In this assignment, you will complete a number of readings and/or self-assessments to identify facets of resilience, including negative and positive emotions, self-talk, mindset and explanatory style. These are some tools for self-care. You will discuss how these operate when things go wrong and when things go right, as well as develop strategies to strengthen these areas.

Prepare for the assignment by completing the required readings and watching the videos. In addition, you will need to complete the following self-assessments from the course textbook and online.

Write a 3 to 5 page paper in which you address a time when things went wrong and a time when things went right. Address the following: (use the course documents sheet)

Part 1 Synthesis

Synthesize the course readings/resources, demonstrating a solid understanding of the current research on resilience, mindset, grit, and positive emotions.

Part 2 Analysis

Section 1: Analyze your results of the assessments completed in this module. Were there any surprises? What was most significant to you?

Section 2: When things went wrong:

The problem(s) you were experiencing.
Negative emotions you experienced. [Analyze these negative emotions through the lens of the course readings.]
Negative self-talk you engaged in.

Section 4: Identify and describe strategies to strengthen your positive emotions/positivity ratio, explanatory style, mindset, and grit. Relate the information you have learned about your mindset, positivity, and grit to the other pieces of self-leadership (goals, strengths, character, emotional intelligence) explored thus far in the course.
