For this assignment, you will need to identify and complete the following:
- Your Topic: A particular type of technology that existed prior to the year 2000 OR an individual who played a
significant role in the history of technology. - A short paragraph that provides an outline of your topic and what you plan to focus on (100-300 words).
Remember to keep your focus as narrow as possible: less is more in this project. To that end, provide a
bracketed time frame within which you plan to focus. For example: 1821-1826. - An interesting and descriptive title for your project. The title should let readers know what your essay is
about while also sparking an interest in them to read your essay. - Identify at least 2 primary source and at least 2 secondary sources that you plan to use for your essay. You
may also include an image as a source (e.g., sketch, painting, photograph, technical specifications, etc.) -- just
be sure to properly cite the image. - Include these sources in a properly formatted Bibliography (refer to the Citation and Bibliography Guide for
Weekly Responses and Final Research Essays -- posted on Blackboard -- for Bibliography formatting
Guidelines). Important: Clearly identify which sources are primary and which sources are secondary. (Keep in
mind that you are not limited to the sources you identify -- you can always include additional ones as your
project progresses).
Be sure to follow each step listed above. Part of your grade is determined by how well you can adhere to the
assignment directions.
Once you have submitted the Proposal, it will be accepted or rejected based on appropriateness. If rejected,
you must then resubmit a revised Proposal based on the recommendations and suggestions provided.
