You will prepare a brief grant application (4-5 Pages Double-spaced including your financial budget table and budget narrative) to address the following items in the grading rubric. The topic should be focused on a specific geographic community and target population, for example "Addressing obesity in high school students in the Mid Valley school district". See detailed information below. It may also be helpful for you to find and review a sample actual grant proposal request on-line to understand content of a typical grant.

Grading Scale – 15 points
Grant purpose – 1 point (1-2 sentences providing the purpose of the grant.. This would be similar to your hypothesis in a research project and what you hope to achieve with the money from the grant. Broad terminology of your goal)
Grant Background – 1 point (1-2 paragraphs providing context of the request and grant proposal) Be sure to discuss the current state of the problem (again using data as much as possible, past attempts to solve the problem, etc.) This would be similar to your prior research of a research project and sticks to past facts)
Needs Assessment Qualified– 2 points (Demonstrate the community need and expected short and long term benefits of your proceeding with the project and receiving the grant funding to do so. Be sure you are stating more specific statistics or actual data-points, that you are targeting ….By example, significant car accident rates by teens is that one-in-three teens will have car accident before turning 21. This causes, increased car insurance rates, hospital and health care costs and loss of life which we intend to improve by or proposed program)
