Rapid digital transformation

Organisations round the world are undergoing a period of rapid digital transformation and
rethinking the way they operate and manage their supply chains. One way organisations are maximising value and managing digitised knowledge is through the adoption of digital tools; thus, for this assignment you are required to address only one of the following research questions listed below:

  1. How might knowledge management influence innovation in organisations in the
    industry 4.0 era?
  2. How might organisations use artificial intelligence and machine learning to deliver
    knowledge in digitised organisations?
  3. How might organisations use artificial ethics principles to manage knowledge and
achieve data driven decision making across their supply chain?
  4. How might blockchain technology be used to manage knowledge and achieve
    organisational productivity?
  5. How might organisations use digital twin technology to secure resilient data for
    physical assets?

You are required to demonstrate the broad knowledge by exploring only
one of the research questions in depth. Your key findings of assignment
should be elaborated with supporting information. For example, add clarity to your
assignment through the use of theories, illustrate a link between theory, research and
practice. Before starting work on the assignment, you should take time to consider which
research question will give you the best opportunity to display your understanding of digital transformation.

I) STRUCTURE OF THE REPORT
All reports should contain:

1- Title page: giving the following information:

 The full title of the work
 The full name of the author
 The year of submission
 The word count 5300 (excluding acknowledgements, diagrams, references and
appendices)

2- Abstract: a brief summary of the assignment.

3- Table of contents: showing the breakdown of the project into its constituent parts and
locating them by page number. It is good practice to also include a list of figures, tables and appendices.

4- Introduction: presenting and justifying the research and/or consultancy problem/issue and introducing the approach taken to investigating and presenting the problem.

5- Literature review: should be arranged in a way appropriate to the topic, presenting a review of relevant literature, results and discussions and a synthesis of findings, critical analysis of facts and/or ideas, using chapter headings, with paragraphs and spacing for ease of reading and cross-reference.

6- Methodology: describe the systematic process used to collect your secondary data.

7- Discussion: use this section to interpret and describe the significance of your findings in light of what was already known about the research problem being investigated, and to explain any new understanding or fresh insights about the problem after you’ve taken the findings into consideration.

8- Conclusions and recommendations: this section should, explicitly or implicitly, establish the validity of the work in relation to its field.

9- References: reference citations should be placed either at the bottom of the relevant page or grouped together at the end of each chapter of the project.

10 – Appendices: optional; useful for relevant but supplementary information.

  • Your review should be driven by following questions

 How the chosen research topic fits into the context of existing literature?
 What are the key questions and problems that have been addressed to date?  What are the key theories and concepts?
 What are the concepts and their relationship?
 How past researchers framed similar problems?
 What are the key elements (variables, e.g., dependent and independent) in the
chosen research?
 What is the best way to represent the framework? ( flow charts, mind maps, tree
diagrams, mathematical equations, etc)
 How to scientifically explain the association between the elements of the proposed
conceptual framework?

At the end of your review you are expected to provide the followings:
 Issues identified from the reviewed review
 Argumentations that have emerged from the reviewed literature
 Conceptual framework
 State how your research adds and expands to the seminal research work in your field
of investigation

II) REPORT FORMAT

 The report should be at 5300 words. The report should
indicate on the first page the number of words used. Do not overuse bullet points as
you are required to evaluate for the purpose of this report.

 A standard citation system must be used (e.g. Harvard or Vancouver). Research and referencing grades will be reduced if a standard system is not followed.

 The report itself should demonstrate analytical and evaluation skills in discussion of the
topic and a clear understanding of strategic project management issues. Please do
not merely submit a list of bullet points to address the criterion identified – this will
ensure a fail.

 All references should be clearly cited within the text and summarised in Reference
and Bibliography.
