Race and Ethics

A growing phenomenon viewed on social media involve whites, who appear to be motivated by prejudice,
calling 911 (the police) to report blacks who they target and accuse of engaging in acts of which they do

not approve (e.g., entering an apartment building without showing them their identification, selling water

near their residence, grilling hamburgers/hot dogs in a park, etc.). When police arrive on the scene, the

white person usually reports feeling "threatened" by the black person (See Youtube video clip "Barbeque

Becky'). Should the problem of white people motivated by prejudice who call the police to report minor or

noncriminal acts by blacks be punishable? Yes or No (explain your answer)? If yes, what type of

punishment should they receive?
