Public vs Private Discrimination

Description: In the film "Two Spirit," the outside activist, Cathy Renna, who helped with the Fred Martinez' case states that although violence against LGBTQ ethnic minorities is prevalent, the media almost never covers these stories. The reason she gives is that Fred Martinez was poor, living in a rural area, Native American, and two-spirit. These comments highlight the complexities of inter-sectional discrimination and oppression. Knowing how complex these issues can be, write an analysis of how the public and private divisions of men and women is complicated by race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation. In other words, explain how the division between public and private spheres differs across these variables. Also comment on how lack of media attention for those who experience violence based on their multiple minority statuses further oppresses them. Comments from Support Team:
