Psychology in Practice

1) Explain the difference between AL and LCP offending and explain why this is an important one to consider in the literature. What are some of the issues associated with Moffit’s (1993) theory? 2) Explain the RNR model and how this might relate to risk assessment and risk management. You might need to think about some of the other work we have done in class to explain/cover this. 3) List the 14 risk domains used in this study...now pick two to focus on and explain why you have chosen these two. a. What were the overall effects of your two chosen risk domains and were they statistically significant? (hint: Table 1 is really important here). b. What (if anything) moderated the effect of the risk factors listed in your chosen domains? c. What might be the implications of the results you have when intervening with a young person and those around them? Activity 2 – 45 minutes Now think about the Charlie case study. What factors are listed in Charlie’s case which would be worthy of further investigation/would relate to literature on persistent youth offending/would be appropriate to consider as part of a risk assessment and intervention strategy. Now write a brief outline/plan for your Charlie risk assessment. Imagine you are outlining things to consider/include in this assignment. Where are the gaps in your knowledge and how are you proposing to fill these gaps? What sort of keyword/search strategies might you use when trying to find appropriate literature? Are there any search terms you can use from this article to help you? Once you have completed your plan/outline, you need to discuss these with Rachel who will give you pointers on what additional/different information you need to include.
