In your responses to your peers, compare notes and discuss ways that you or your peers might improve your studying or test-taking tactics. Note that your responses will help everyone in your group develop an individual exam preparation roadmap at the end of Module Six, so try to provide responses early in the module.

Hey everyone!
We have made it through the halfway point of the term!!! Hope everyone is enjoying it so far like I am!
What studying techniques have worked for you in the past?
I have never been good at studying, I have also never have been a good test taker. But, I have tried numerous different types of study techniques, from flash cards and taking practice quizzes to plainly just continuous repetition of the material. I have had tutors as well that have helped me to study and work on difficult coursework.
What test-taking strategies have you used in the past that have been successful?
When it comes to what strategies have actually worked for me in the past, it really depends on the type of class I was studying for. If I was studying for a math test I would practice the type of problems over and over for different scenarios. I was a marine science major while in undergrad and would use flash cards and practice quizzes, as well as use a tutor if it was a particularly difficult class. I would also have to just continuously study, and that is what really worked.
What test-taking strategies have you used in completing the quizzes in this course?
So far during this class I have had mixed results when it comes to the outcomes of my studying. I have been reading the course book and doing practice quizzes out of different PMP prep books. I have also started looking at online sources such as quizlet.
Are there any tools or additional resources that you plan to use while studying for the PMP exam?
I definitely need to start working on working with quizlet more, I like that there are practices tests and flashcards online to use. I also need to look into other prep books. I feel like I also need to get more background on working in the project management field to help me understand more for the test. I'm a very hands on learner and I feel like if I am able to do it, it'll help me to prepare for the test.
Is there an aspect of studying or test taking that you would like to improve on? Is there an aspect that you excel at?
The biggest thing I would like to improve on is not stressing out so much. I get very stressed out before big tests and start over thinking things, which in the long run causes me to not do well on tests. I also would like to find better ways of studying that can help with that stress and testing anxiety. Honestly, there aren't many things I excel at when it comes to taking tests. I do like to go back and look at the test questions after I get the results back (if its possible to get the test back) and research the correct answers if they weren't already provided. I feel that this is one of the best ways to learn what I didn't know while taking the test.
I look forward to reading everyone else's posts and I hope that with reading everyone else's I'll find some new study strategies.

• What studying techniques have worked for you in the past?
• When it comes to studying I do best when I write things down with pen and paper, I also do really well with flash cards. I also like to use external resources such as guides others may have created in preparation for the particular quiz or item I am studying for. Staying organized ensures that I am not feeling pressured or overwhelmed.
• What test-taking strategies have you used in the past that have been successful?
• I find myself succeeding when I have a quiet place to focus. To be honest I have never been great at taking quizzes and I can get distracted by the smallest things. There are many practice tests available as well as websites where you can create your own practice quizzes. I find that I need practice and a way to remember key definitions etc. so I utilize flash cards and note taking methods.
• What test-taking strategies have you used in completing the quizzes in this course?
• For this course I have utilized the PMI site to read blogs and case studies as well as prior course work to familiarize myself with the content. For me project management isn’t my job and although I have taken a few courses on project management, it is not “second” language to me yet.
• Are there any tools or additional resources that you plan to use while studying for the PMPⓇ exam?
• I will continue to utilize the papers I have written with SNHU and the notes I have taken along the way on key areas of project management to help guide me.
• Is there an aspect of studying or test taking that you would like to improve on? Is there an aspect that you excel at?
• My memory is not always great and when multiple choice arises, I often second guess my self. I would like to be more confident in my decisions when it comes to test taking. According to the University of South Florida, there are 10 test taking strategies.
• Manage study time wisely
• Utilize appropriate study methods
• Find a comfortable place to study
• Continuously review notes for organization and accuracy
• Make connections to the subject that make sense
• Do not cram
• Look over the entire test if possible
• Don’t get frustrated
