Sections 1 and 2 of the term paper feedback:
Your problem analysis is limited without notable links to normative/research literature. The itemization of the
program elements need to be reviewed for their strengths and limitations given arguments and evidence in the
literature re: applicability and efficacy for the target problem and population. You have not identified SMART
objectives linked to clear outcomes associated with the entire focus of the intervention (think about the
sequencing of short-term, intermediate, and long-term outcomes). Moving forward, much work is needed to
identify the best indicators of meaningful change with the client population given the presenting problems your
intervention proposes to deal with and then develop/choose the best means of measuring change with these
indicators. If there are common issues/concerns/problems experienced by all, choose a standard measure that
applies to all (e.g. standard physiological or other measure of substance use/abuse). If there may be variation
in the focus of service plans for clients on other measures, perhaps the GAS may be a good tool for those
indicators where each class of indicators serves as a focus of individualized GAS goals.
Assignment 2 feedback: It appears you are refining its focus; this is good. The outcome objectives are better
but need revision. You have identified a series of measures related to problems hypothesized to be related to
reducing substance abuse. Your long-term outcomes (at end and post intervention) is the reduction of
substance abuse. How will this be measured in a valid manner (physiological measure, self-report,
standardized measure, third party source, etc.)? Now, think about how changes (and the order of changes) in
other outcomes (and associated measures) relate to the focus of the intervention while youth are in treatment.
What is the revised program hypothesis and associated outcomes chain among depression (PHQ-9), well
being (WHO-5; more details are needed on this measure), coping mechanisms (and the four sub-constructs
measured by CSE)?
Assignment 3 feedback: You have presented a number of graphs and tables that have little relevance to the
issues you are evaluating. You have three short-term and/or intermediate outcomes (depression, global
measure of well-being, and coping strategies) and one long-term outcome related to substance use and abuse.
If you are using A-B-A design for your intermediate outcomes, you need to present these data and
analyze/identify trends associated with each and contrast these data to findings related to substance use (urine
analysis)
