A link to the article for this assignment is found above and the rubric used to assess your paper is attached under these instructions. After reading the assigned article and chapter from the textbook, analyze the impact of the described circumstances on the child and parent, and their relationship. Your analysis will consist of 4 parts: 1.) a brief statement about the article's subject, 2.) a description of the child and parent, 3.) an analysis of the effects of the family's situation on the parenting practices and the parent-child relationship using concepts and theories from the provided list. Be sure to provide definitions of concepts and examples from the article to support your analysis, 4.) a conclusion to your analysis with recommendations for the parent.
On the next page in this Week's module, you will find a video discussion describing an approach to analyzing this story and the impact on the family involved.
Tip: Be brief in your statement of the purpose of the article and in the description of child and parent. Avoid long quotes from the article or the textbook. The paper should focus on the purpose of this assignment--using 3 concepts to analyze the parent-child relationship and its effect on the child. Instructions:
The topics to cover in your analysis include:
- A statement of the subject of the article (i.e., homelessness, identity formation and racial socialization, novel parenting settings, changes in the juvenile justice system, military families and deployment, food insecurity/hunger). Keep this short, a sentence of two.
- Describe the parent or caregiver and child in the article, including age, gender, temperament or personality, and special needs of the child and parent. Describe the Microsystem of the family and child as it relates to your analysis. This could be included in a short paragraph with item #1. Be specific while brief.
