Power, Influence, and Control

New managers soon realize that the formal authority, power, and control they were expecting when they moved
into management, did not materialize. In fact, many say they feel more constrained. Managing other smart and
strong-minded people involves developing influence and using the art of persuasion.
This is a two part question, please answer both parts.
1) Is influence a skill that can be developed by anyone? Explain your answer.
2) What are some methods or approaches to having influence with subordinates, peers, and bosses?
